Hi, I'm Hattie
I live in East Sussex, I am a mother of 2 small boys, and I am someone who loves to be outside in nature - you will often find me out walking on the South Downs, in local woodland or on the Sussex Coastline. I feel at home when I am being warmed by a campfire!

I learnt the value of having a unique therapeutic space to talk to someone after I experienced a traumatic life event a number of years ago. I found that having the opportunity to talk to an independent professional, helped me to make sense of my experiences and to navigate my way through a very difficult experience. I subsequently changed career and re-trained as a person - centred counsellor in mid - life so that I too, could help others who are struggling. It is a journey which has helped me to develop a new way of being and, as a form of therapy, person - centred counselling never ceases to inspire me in the ways in which it can help others.

I am a fully qualified, insured and registered psychotherapeutic counsellor and I have undertaken training that is approved by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also a registered member of BACP and I am listed on their register of therapists.

I currently work for Release Counselling and Therapy for Women in Brighton, helping to improve the mental health and wellbeing of women across East Sussex. I work as a Counsellor and also as a Group Support Facilitator, helping to facilitate their therapeutic groups for mums / birthing parents and mums who are survivors of sexual trauma. I know how hard the motherhood journey can be and I am passionate about supporting women and improving their wellbeing at this important stage of life.
In addition to my mental health expertise, I bring over a decade of experience working as a lawyer. This means that I understand first - hand the unique stresses and struggles that women face when working in the corporate world, particularly when juggling work with family life. My experience in the legal profession also means that I am used to working in a way that ensures high standards of confidentiality and ethical practice, and also that I am used to working with a variety of clients - people who can talk to me honestly and openly and without fear of judgement about what they have to share.

In addition to running my counselling practice, I am also a trained yoga nidra teacher and I offer classes and retreats locally. Yoga nidra is a calming and restorative meditation practice which can help us to relax, connect more deeply to ourselves and improve our mental wellbeing.
