Person- Centred

Person - Centred Experiential Therapy is a talking therapy, founded on empathy and compassion and the creation of an accepting space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings and emotions. It is person - centred because is rooted in the belief that you have an inherent capacity for growth and self - understanding and so puts you at the centre of the therapy experience.

This means that I create an environment where you are free to express yourself honestly and openly and where I will listen deeply and without judgement to what you are sharing. I will not offer advice, but i will help you to find clarity, new insights and to feel empowered to find your solutions to bring about change - often having a long - lasting impact

We will work with whatever you want to bring to the sessions each week and we will work at your pace and with no pressure This  means that rather than being told what to say or do, you will have the time and space to delve deeply into any aspects that you might want to explore, leading to greater self - awareness and understanding.

PCET is a well - established and evidence - based form of talking therapy and is recommended by the National Institute for Health Care Excellence (NICE) as a talking therapy for depression.

Experiential

The experiential aspect of the therapy encourages you to explore felt senses/emotions in the present moment. For example, I may guide you to notice sensations in the body in real time, which can assist with emotional clarity, the processing of unresolved feelings and in having helpful "aha" moments -which can be transformative! It can also help with being stuck in a busy mind or over-  analysing/thinking; helping you to shift your attention towards your feelings and emotions and helping you to gain deeper insights than relying on thoughts alone

Eco - therapy

Ecotherapy is an evolving part of my practice.  In all of the spaces that I meet clients, I combine the PCET approach with the healing and restorative benefits of nature. Helping to reduce stress, balance your nervous system and to provide a calming and restorative therapeutic space to support you on your counselling journey.

When working outside, I encourage clients to connect with the natural world; to facilitate deep presence, new perspectives and to foster a greater connection to the natural world, as well as to the world within.

Breathwork

As a qualified, trauma-informed yoga nidra teacher, I also offer the opportunity to explore breathing and grounding exercises in sessions. Through our breath, we can directly calm our nervous system state and we can use our breath to build resilience - this can help with feelings of stress/anxiety and overwhelm. If this is something you would like to explore, we can discuss how this can work in our sessions.
